About the bar

In a 1955 essay J.R.R. Tolkien, the author of Lord of the Rings, wrote that the words, ``Cellar door,’’ are the most beautiful sounds in the English language.

The door that leads into our Cellar bar offers many pleasant surprises than just fortunate phonetics. Here you will find the cellar of an old building. Almost 200 years ago the Eliseev family stored and poured wine here for the entire Russian Empire. Contemporary architects preserved the historic interior, and left the unpainted red-brick wall.

The bar, made of fine dark wood and with leather couches, is the first thing that catches your attention. Nearby is a stage for live music, as well as six bowling lanes. On Wednesdays there’s the Big Lebowski bowling tournament.

The Cellar is the best place to let loose and have a lively time. Every day is a special theme party with special offers. You can watch sports on the giant plasma TV screen, especially the local football team, Zenit, of which Sokos Hotels is an official partner.

The menu has a wide variety of beer and whiskey, as well as tasty pub meals, such as ribs, hamburgers, and classical English fish and chips.
